Tungsten Description
Tungsten is an element identified on the periodic table with the atomic number of 74 and symbol W. It is classified as a transition metal and is also referenced as a refractory metal with a body-centered cubic lattice. Tungsten is often noted for having the highest melting point of all the refractory metals at 3420 °C. Tungsten wire also provides a low coefficient of thermal expansion, low vapor pressure at elevated temperatures, good electrical and thermal conductivity and can be found in medical devices such as LLETZ or LEEP and in a variety of metal-to-glass sealing applications.
